What is a life coach?
A life coach is a professional that provides an ongoing partnership in order to progress towards your professional or personal goals with concrete action steps and timelines. Like a traditional sports coach, a life coach is trained to listen, provide strategy, motivate, and enhance your existing skills and strengths to keep you at the top of your game.

How do I know if I need a life coach?
Some indicators that you may benefit from a life coach are:

  1. Feeling stuck
  2. Feeling stressed
  3. Going through a major life transition
  4. Not maximizing your career potential
  5. Wanting to get more out of a current relationship
  6. Looking to form new relationships
  7. Needing a new approach to the way you handle situations
  8. Needing more organization and/or better time management

What is the difference between a life coach and a therapist?
Some of the main differences include:

  1. Many therapists focus on your past in order to help you become a healthier individual, while a life coach focuses on the present in order to partner with you in creating a sought after lifestyle.
  2. Often therapists will not disclose information about themselves or offer direct advice.  A life coach will share experiences and techniques that have worked for them and others, as well as offer direct advice.
  3. While more and more therapists are looking to form partnerships with their clients, currently therapy tends to be a clinician-patient relationship, while life coaching is built strictly on working as partners.
  4. Therapy often occurs in person, while 80% of life coaches mainly work over the phone, and have a national practice.*

"What is your style of life coaching?
I use a strengths-based, action-oriented model of life coaching.  This means that with action steps and time lines you successfully accomplish all goals that we establish by realizing and then utilizing your existing strengths and resources.

If we work together, how often would we meet?
We would begin with 50-minute sessions, once a week or once every two weeks, over the phone (or, if you prefer, online over real-time chat). Besides those 50 minutes, you will often have weekly assignments to complete (which will not take much time, but will definitely be worth the time that you invest in them - I promise) and will be able to contact me for questions, motivation, or general help throughout the week.
